Mettams Pool (Mettam’s Pool), Trigg, WA, Australia

A reef shelters this  large, informal, ‘improved’,  ‘natural’ rock pool developed through the efforts of one man, his children and grandchildren. It has long been popular as a safe and appealing swimming and snorkelling place  and a venue for learn-to-swim classes.

Hamersley Pool is an informal. reef-enclosed, tidal pool recorded as attracting swimmers and bathers since the early 20th century.

Shaka’s Rock (Chaka’s Rock) pool, KZN, South Africa

A pool of rocks rather than cement. This pool is at the foot of rocky outcrop believed to have been used as a lookout by the great Zulu chief, Shaka. The Shaka’s Rock Beach Tidal Pool’s wide variety of fish, corals and other sealife make appealing for snorkelling.
