Old Sea Point Baths (ghost pool), Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

The old Sea Point Baths was a tidal pool quite unlike the modern Sea Point complex of non-tidal pools.

Historical notes

1895
Opening of the baths developed and managed by a private company. Admission charges applied and there were separate bathing hours for men and women. Pumps ensured the pool remained full at low tide.

1911
The baths were washed away and not rebuilt.
