Henry Alexander Wylie leased and managed several ocean baths in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs, namely:
- the Bronte Baths,
- the women’s baths at Coogee (now better known as McIvers Baths), -
- the men’s baths on Coogee Bay’s northern headland (now better known as Giles Baths), and
- Wylie’s Baths at Coogee (Wylie leased this site directly from the NSW government. He and his sons carved the pool out of the rock platform).
His children were noted swimmers and the Wylie family often gave exhibition swims at venues like the Coogee Aquarium. The best-known swimmer in the family was his daughter Mina Wylie, who won a silver medal in swimming at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics.
